This is the blog for GW students taking Human Evolutionary Genetics. This site is for posting interesting tidbits on: the patterns and processes of human genetic variation;human origins and migration; molecular adaptations to environment, lifestyle and disease; ancient and forensic DNA analyses; and genealogical reconstructions.

Stone Age farmers genetically linked to modern Basques

A new paper in PNAS examines genome sequence data from ancient DNA of Iberian farmers, and finds links between these farmers and modern Basques. This contracts some previous suggestions that the Basque are a remnant sub-population, primarily tracing their ancestry to earlier Mesolithic hunter-gatherers.   The press release and picture credit are HERE.
